Adelaide April 2009

Adelaide
April 10th
Good Friday - Day 7

Another fine day but everything was closed retail wise (not necessarily a bad thing!).

We lazed for the morning apart from doing a huge washing load. No queue for the machines which were front loading and efficient. I did a walk and practiced with my camera but found little to enthuse me despite the nice wetland and walkways next to the caravan park.

Around 1.30 p.m. I drove to Immanuel College for a referees’ briefing which turned out to be a full fledged seminar under the direction of two 8th Dan Japanese Sensei. In jeans and a polo shirt I walked in on a large group of colleagues all in shirts, ties and jackets. Oh how embarassing!
I weighed my shinai (swords) with one passing the audition and soon left and returned to Glenda. We drove to Belaire N.P. but it was crowded and late so we didn’t go in and have put it off until Monday.
Went down to the beach and briefly enjoyed the ocean views before returning to the van. Glenda cooked up a marinated chicken breast fillet for tea and we have settled in to a night of television S.A. style.

Must say this is a beautiful city, well set out thanks to the original planner whose name escapes me although he also planned Penang in Malaysia which we visited in 1979 Tomorrow will be full on Kendo, refereeing only for me but still a long day.

Bird sightings
Brown thornbill, 75 birds
