Adelaide April 2009

Victor Harbor – Adelaide
April 9th
Thursday - Day 6

A glorious day, not a cloud in the sky and just a slight breeze. Why couldn’t the last few have been so clear?
We leisurely packed up and it took about 25 minutes from breakfast till we moved off our site. We’ve done this so often it’s become fairly straight forward and rarely are there any dramas…knock on wood.

Being Easter we expected heavy traffic but S.A. doesn’t have the population of Victoria or N.S.W. so we moved along fairly stress free. Glenda had planned her route so within an hour we were on the outskirts of Adelaide. The Marion Caravan Park is beautifully set out next to a small creek and parkland, and the city is within easy reach.

A large shopping centre is nearby and we visited it in search of a red tie for the championships. Myers offered a patterned one for $70 (Trent Nathan) while David Jones’s cheapest offer was $49. We ventured in to Target and settled on a slightly patterned job for $20. This place should keep Glenda occupied while I’m busy with the Kendo stuff.

I took a pillow over to the parkland mid afternoon to use it as a bean bag for the camera while I “practiced” on some eastern rosellas. I found myself lying on the grass come leaf litter and zooming in on a small party of three birds. All was well until a gang of eight year old kids charged over me in their war games despite the futile calls from their sitting mothers’ to keep quiet and leave the man alone. Not too sure how they (the photos) will turn out but I was a wee bit embarassed toting the pillow. I’m not an old man who needs a cushion when he sits down!
Some pacific ducks and a few mallards dropped by for some bread around 5 o’clock and left a nice mess in their excitement. Always fun watching them push and shove as ducks do.

The park is totally booked as one might expect being Easter but it’s design makes our area not so crowded.

A BBQ for tea although we left a vital part of the small portable unit behind. Frying pan it is unfortunately.
